SURFACE
WATERS

0 — 200 M

Light still reaches you here. The descent is safe, FATHOM accrual is low, and the ocean still feels familiar.

LEAVING THE LIGHT200 m
MESOPELAGIC

TWILIGHT
ZONE

200 — 1,000 M

The glow from above begins to fail. Bioluminescent life takes over, and the first large contacts appear beyond the beam.

NO SUNLIGHT BEYOND1,000 m
BATHYPELAGIC

MIDNIGHT
ZONE

1,000 — 4,000 M

No sunlight survives. The creature keeps descending without another transaction. FATHOM rises faster while visibility collapses.

THE DEEPER YOU GO,
THE MORE YOU EARN.
ABYSSAL PLAIN4,000 m
ABYSSOPELAGIC

ABYSSAL
PLAIN

4,000 — 6,000 M

Pressure climbs. Thermal vents become the only landmarks. Yield accelerates enough that turning back starts to feel expensive.

THE DEEPER YOU GO,
THE MORE YOU RISK.
CRUSH DEPTH AHEAD6,000 m
CRITICAL THRESHOLD

CRUSH
DEPTH

6,000 — 8,000 M

Requesting a surface commits you in this block. The next block's hash decides whether the harvest is yours. Nothing is secured until it settles, and there is no depth where the roll is skipped.

HADOPELAGIC

HADAL
TRENCH

8,000 — 11,000 M

Almost nothing returns unchanged from here. FATHOM is at its fastest, pressure is absolute, and the surface is far above you.

11,000 M

YOU HAVE REACHED
THE BOTTOM.

The descent ends here. Entry begins somewhere else.

ENTER THE TERMINAL
THE ECONOMY

TWO SYSTEMS,
DELIBERATELY SEPARATE.

ETH is the entry and exit reserve for the creatures. FATHOM is what the dive game pays out. Neither one is a claim on the other, and no part of it needs a seeded liquidity pool to function.

THE CURVE

3,333 permanent identities on a linear curve from 0.0005 to 0.005 ETH. A buy sends 85% into the reserve that pays the next exit; an exit releases exactly what the same step funded. Creatures are never burned — they return to the vault and go back out to the next buyer.

  • 85 / 13.5 / 1.5 on the way in
  • 80 / 4 / 1 on the way out
  • Solvent by construction, first exit to last
THE DIVE

Depth is elapsed time; the floor is 24 hours away. Harvest is the integral of the rate curve, survival is the site's own curve, and expected value is their product — which peaks near 5,600 m rather than at the bottom.

  • Every surface is a roll, at every depth
  • Committed in one block, settled in the next
  • A keeper is paid to settle it, so nothing hangs
THE FATHOM POOL

Every FATHOM is a pro-rata claim on one ETH pool, filled by expedition fees alone — the same activity that mints the token. That is the floor: pool ÷ supply, self-consistent from the first dive rather than a pot the earliest diver can drain.

  • No market maker, no seeded pair
  • A crushed dive funds the floor it did not claim
  • Emission halves eight times, then stops at 9.96M

Farming FATHOM is close to break-even against its own production cost by design. The yield that sits on top of it comes from dives that did not make it back — not from new buyers paying old ones.
